Get to Know Me
Everyone has things that come easily and things they struggle with. Space organization is my gift and I love using it to help people create room to put their own gifts into action.
I’m Space Organization Expert Joanie Nicholas ~ a caretaker and people-person by nature, which means I love getting to know my clients! This personal connection allows me to actively guide you to create home and work area organization systems that work for you.
Growing up with a pack-rat mother and a minimalist father helped me understand the effect clutter can have on our energy and focus. As a child, I found comfort in maintaining an organized space for myself. In addition, I loved helping my mom keep cabinets and drawers in order.
Therefore, you can imagine my excitement when years later, I discovered the career of Professional Organizer!
As I send my “baby” off to college, I know first-hand how disorienting life transitions can be. We grapple with questions like “Who am I now?” and “What is my purpose for this next stage of life?”
One way to begin answering these questions is by looking at your belongings and determining what will serve you moving forward. Let’s try to embrace each new phase of life with curiosity and excitement!
Beating Yourself Up Doesn’t Help You Become More Organized
Through nearly 30 years working with clients I’ve helped people from all walks of life, and witnessed their feelings of shame, guilt, grief, and confusion.
But when you think about trying to dig out of the clutter, do you feel completely overwhelmed?
Beating yourself up with criticism isn’t empowering. So, I bring empathy, humor, positive energy and absolute confidentiality to every client session. And ~ as unbelievable as it sounds to you ~
I actually LOVE the process of tackling that clutter and turning chaos into calm!
My Life Beyond Home Organization
As a lifelong learner, avid reader and spiritual individual, I’m constantly evolving, reflecting and working toward a better version of myself. In my pursuit to embrace my most authentic self, I’m inspired by others who also show up in their lives as their truest self.
Along with spending time with my family, including my husband of 30 years, our three grown sons (when can I get them all together to update this photo?!), and our dog, I enjoy cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs & Royals, gardening, cultural/musical events, hiking in the mountains and supporting social justice issues facing our community.
My Professional Community
I’m a member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO).
One benefit of NAPO membership is the wealth of fantastic classes to continuously improve my skills as a Home Organizing Coach. I am proud to have earned both the Life Transitions Specialist Certification and the Brain Based Conditions Certification offered by NAPO.
Locally, I am a Wellness Champion Leader in the Wellness Consortium, a network of Kansas City health and wellness providers and vendors passionate about whole person care and making a difference in the community. As a Professional Organizer who takes a holistic approach to my work, I love the resources for my clients I find here.
Central Exchange is another local organization that offers fantastic learning opportunities and connects me with amazing and inspiring women throughout Kansas City.
